Commission & Payout Terms
How Edition Ambassador commissions are calculated, tracked, and paid across each tier.
1. Ambassador Tiers
Edition Unlocked offers three Ambassador tiers. Your tier is assigned when you activate your Ambassador account and determines the direct commission rate you earn on qualifying sales.
Collector/Ambassador — granted automatically and for life when you purchase a numbered print. No monthly fee. This is the highest commission tier and rewards the financial commitment of buying the art you share.
Ambassador Pro — a paid monthly subscription for Ambassadors who have not purchased a print but want to earn at an enhanced rate. $29.99 per month, cancel anytime.
Free Ambassador — a no-cost entry path. Anyone can activate a Free Ambassador account without purchasing a print or paying a subscription. Free Ambassadors can earn commissions and compete for the original artwork performance award.
2. Direct Commission Rates
Commissions are paid only on direct, personally generated qualifying sales completed through your personal Ambassador link. They are not paid on your own purchases.
Collector/Ambassador: 30% on your first qualifying sales, scaling to 60% as your personal qualified sales reach new milestones (40% at 61 sales, 50% at 91 sales, 60% at 121 sales).
Ambassador Pro: 20% on your first qualifying sales, scaling to 50% (30% at 61 sales, 40% at 91 sales, 50% at 121 sales).
Free Ambassador: a flat 10% on every qualifying sale, with no milestone scaling.
3. What Counts as a Qualifying Sale
A qualifying sale is a completed, paid print order placed through your personal Ambassador link that is not later refunded or reversed. Sales are verified server-side. Self-referrals (purchases made using your own Ambassador link) never qualify for commission.
4. Tier Upgrades
If a Free or Ambassador Pro subscriber later purchases a numbered print, their account is automatically upgraded to the Collector/Ambassador tier for life. A Collector/Ambassador who is also an active Ambassador Pro subscriber is moved to the Collector/Ambassador tier and is not required to maintain the subscription.
5. Payout Schedule
Earned commissions accrue in your Ambassador account and are tracked within the app. Commissions on a qualifying sale become payable once the order's payment is confirmed and the return window has closed.
Payouts are issued on a regular schedule determined by the Developer. Ambassadors must provide a valid payout method and any information required for tax reporting before a payout can be issued.
6. Reversals and Clawbacks
If a qualifying sale is refunded, charged back, or otherwise reversed, the commission earned on that sale is reversed from your account. Reversed commissions may reduce a future payout or create a negative balance that is applied against future earnings.
7. Tax Responsibilities
Ambassadors are responsible for any taxes owed on commissions earned. Where required by law, the Developer may collect tax identification information and issue applicable tax documents. Commissions are reported based on the year they are paid, not the year they are earned.
